Helping Students and Adults Overcome Learning Barriers and Identify Giftedness

At Embrace Well Psychological Services, our Psychoeducational Assessments offer a comprehensive evaluation of cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning for children, adolescents, and adults. These assessments help uncover learning difficulties such as ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and processing disorders, while also identifying areas of giftedness for students who may be excelling academically but are not being challenged enough in traditional educational environments.

What is a Psychoeducational Assessment

A psychoeducational assessment evaluates areas such as intelligence (IQ), academic achievement, memory, attention, and emotional regulation. For children, this means identifying learning disabilities or giftedness that can impact school performance. For adults, it helps clarify difficulties in workplace productivity or lifelong learning challenges, allowing us to explore areas like attention deficits, anxiety, or high intellectual potential that may have gone unrecognized.

IDENTIFYING GIFTS

For children who are excelling beyond their peers or who show signs of advanced intellectual abilities, a psychoeducational assessment can help identify giftedness. Recognizing giftedness early allows parents and educators to provide the right enrichment opportunities and educational accommodations to keep these students engaged and challenged. It also helps prevent underachievement that can occur when gifted children are not sufficiently stimulated in their academic environment.

WHY IT MATTERS

If your child is constantly feeling overwhelmed by school or perhaps under-stimulated despite high academic achievement, a psychoeducational assessment could provide the answers you’re looking for. By identifying giftedness or learning challenges, we can recommend tailored support strategies, ensuring that your child reaches their full potential both academically and emotionally. For adults, the assessment can offer insights into strengths and areas for improvement, leading to greater success in personal and professional life.

WHO BENEFITS

  • Parents seeking clarity about their child's academic struggles or wanting to explore whether their child may be gifted.

  • Adults experiencing challenges in their academic or professional environments who want to better understand their learning profile and abilities.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our assessments involve a series of standardized tests conducted in a supportive and comfortable setting. After the evaluation, you will receive a detailed report with personalized recommendations for educational support, accommodations, and interventions. Whether that means exploring gifted education programs, developing strategies to address learning difficulties, or using assistive technology, we provide clear steps for academic and personal success.
